April 3, 2010 City of Bellevue Harasses Bikini Espresso Business
As reported on Mynorthwest.com:
“The owner of a new espresso stand in Bellevue says the city is trying to shut her down. Touchdown Espresso owner Adrianne Peterson got a visit from a representative from the City of Bellevue that told her she had to stop running her espresso stand as a drive-thru. “Basically she told me, ‘You can’t have a drive thru espresso stand.’ She told me that I had to put up signs that said, ‘No drive-thru. Walk up only.’ She said I had to put cones out to barricade the stand.” Touchdown Espresso sits in the parking lot of a 76 Station at the intersection of 148th and Main St. in Bellevue. Peterson says the stand has been at that location running as a drive-thru establishment for at least a decade.”
This sounds like selective enforcement of the law, which although is not illegal, shows that the City of Bellevue has an agenda to pursue and they have no problem with harassing one business over another.

having the bikini stands have caused problems and are not showing a good example to younger people. i have accidently rolled up to one having my children in the car and felt completely embarrassed as my son asked me why would she wear that. there was no sign outside her stand what so ever. it doesnt set a good example and it has already shown other problems like prostitution. i havent looked into it yet to see if they are required to have an adult entertainment license, but i dont see why the would not have one since now its more about entertaining. i feel things like this should be more private, not in the open. i also fell they have only caused more problems in relationships as well. i know serveral friends and myself that have experience betraying men due to being provoked to going to these. if these girls wanted to entertain why not work at a strip club instead. but on the streets we should be cleaning it up, have respect for people. no i dont have to go to them, but i dont have to sit and deal with this either. i have four boys that are growing up in all this. think about it. there are two sides to this and i feel it should be viewed.

Better not take your kids to any beaches. God forbid they might see a women in a bikini. If your worried so much about your men going to these places. Maybe your not doing it for him at home.

This is a great little stand, the owner is very nice and super friendly everyday. I now stop by there every morning for my latte to help support the stand. In reference to the other comment, I definitly understand where your concerns are, but I also beleive those concerns are blown way out of proportion. Specifically around the comment of these types of stands causing relationship problems. If a relationship ends or suffers from someone visiting a coffee stand that has a gril in a bikini or short shorts then there are much deeper issues. Also, this is beach attire or more at this stand. I don’t think it should be compated to strip club. Now you know this stand is there, I would say you can cast your vote by not visiting it. Your kids only see it if you go there.
